Backwater Architectural Review Board
Submission Requirements
Prior to construction, property owners must submit the following:
- Complete site plan showing location of all structures, drives,
walks, etc.
Two sets of architectural drawings showing as least the floor plan and
elevations
- Samples of all exterior colors
- Brick samples
- Landscape plan

Backwater Architectural Guidelines for Exterior Elevations
- Continuity and consistency of exterior color materials is
encouraged. Natural/Earth tones are encouraged. Primary colors are
discouraged. No color extremes will be permitted.
- The approved finish building materials shall be applied
consistently to all sides of exteriors of primary structures and
approved detached buildings.
- Recommended materials are brick, stone, stucco or wood or other
material approved in writing by the Architectural Review Board.
Stucco is defined as mortar mix of approved color applied to the
surface of brick, block or stone.
- Synthetic “stucco” applications or EIFS products are prohibited.
- No simulated brick, stucco, or stone will be permitted.
- No exposed concrete walls or block will be permitted.
- No aluminum siding will be permitted.
- No vinyl siding will be permitted.
- No unstained or unpainted siding or trim will be permitted.
- All windows shall be wood or vinyl clad wood windows. Simulated
divided lites are required on front elevations.
- Reflective glass is prohibited.
- Vinyl shutters are prohibited.
- Architectural shingles are required.
- All driveways shall be paved with hard surface materials (i.e.,
concrete, pavers, etc.)
This list is not all-inclusive and any other finish items not herby
specified shall be brought to the Architectural Review Board for
approval.
